Epcot

Today I visited the iconic Giant Golfball (kk, they actually call it Spaceship Earth but it doesn't look like a spaceship to me). It was the first "ride" I went on and the line was miles long (see that? American speak!) but went incredibly fast. I think there's some kind of psychology in having long lines all twisty and bendy that keep people moving to keep them from getting frustrated at how long they have to wait. I dunno.

The ride scared me a bit, only because as I entered I saw a sign saying if you are uncomfortable in dark, small spaces don't ride it and they kept repeating over and over again that if the ride stops you must stay inside the car. Like, I think I heard it about 20 times. Six of which I heard while on the ride when it randomly stopped (my theory for that is someone in a wheelchair was getting on at the front and they had to stop the revolving floor for them). It wasn't a scary ride but I still managed to panic. If you've seen me play Snap, you'll understand this. Plus every time I made eye contact with one of those freaky as crap robotic mannequins, it always managed to lock eyes with me until I couldn't see it anymore. Flashes of House of Wax ensued in my mind.

Then I did the Stormstruck severe-weather simulator which was cool and interactive yet educational and reminded me of my old EES classes. My teacher would really enjoy Epcot, it's full of stuff like that.

Did the Seas with Nemo and Friends which was cute but Jesus this woman two clamshells to my left kept taking photos even though they said no flash photography, so the flashes lit up all the mechanics and ruined the atmosphere of it all for me. I tell you, if I'd been able to get out of my clamshell, or even make eye contact with her, I would have had words. Loud ones. Follow the rules, ignorant woman. Turns out she was the mother in the annoying family I stood behind while waiting for the Stormstruck. Figures.

Saw the Circle of Life show which was fantastic. It must be something to do with it being the Lion King, because anything that includes that tends to become my favourite part of the day [see yesterday]. Timon and Pumba wanted to make a Hakuna Matata resort so they dammed (sp?) up a river and Simba told them a story of how other creatures didn't take care of the land and look where it got them. Inspired by the humans' lack of sense and success, they turned it into an ecological resort haha.

Rode the Soarin' next, which was a hang glider simulator. Was epic fun. Almost worth the 45 minute wait - and stupid me, I didn't see you could Fast Track is so I waited in line when I didn't have to. Lame.

By then it was about 3ish and I still hadn't gotten to International Showcase, which was what I'd been looking forward to the most at Epcot. It's like this GIANT lake that is surrounded by different "countries" and stuff, so you can try their food and learn about their culture and whatnot. I only made it to Ireland when my body was like 'if you don't turn me around right now and take me back to the bus, you're not making it back to the resort today'. I was really shitty about that coz I didn't want to go but I was just so sore everywhere from walking and line-waiting and sun/heat exposure and my shoulders hurt from bag-hauling. But one look across the lake and I saw some pretty buildings and thought 'mmm, that's nice. I'd like to work there if it meant I could look at a Disney park whenever I wanted' until I realised it was still the park and I was looking at Germany, Italy and Japan. Germany was the country I was most excited about coz it's German Reunification Day today, which meant cool stuff was going on and I could get a award certificate at the end. Ah well.

Came back to my resort, had nachos and ice cream for a late lunch, dropped by my room with the intention of a 2 hour nap, instead ended up canceling dinner plans and slept through til 7.30, where I watched some Disney and the Presidential Debate and whatnot (as if anyone would vote for anyone other than Obama?), had a bath while watching OUAT and now here we are.

Goodnight x

  1. Er... Snap? You do realize now I'm really curious and will add that to the list of things to do with you IRL, right? (right under everything else that stacked up over the years like Miley karaoke and idk, doing a tour of The Guardians OHHH and London!!, and probably above working with you in some crazy Christmas job in some crazy hours.)

Haha, I love how you said 'two clamshells' XP The lines must be mental, and I say this having been to Hong Kong and Japan Disneylands, which are inferior.

OMG the International Showcase thing sounds so, so awesome. Like, that would so be my thing

I must say that I'm impressed with your body, actually. It's doing very well considering all the walking and standing this must all be, and it doesn't sound like you're eating meals at the regular times as well? My body FLAILS big time whenever I have to stand/walk around for more than, idk, three days. This is the biggest reason why I am slightly afraid of travelling at the moment- I'm not sure I can make it worth the trip of going away if I only manage to walk like... five kms, and then just don't want to get up again.

(hey, maybe all those hills you walked in NZ helped. Hah.)

  2. Things that casue tension give me anxiety, so I cry and get a bit hysterical during Snap. It would make a good video for Australia's Funniest Home Videos but srsly, my heart goes all stressed and squished and painful. And I like the sound of that list! LONDON 2014 FTW

The International Showcase was sooo big and would have taken a day in itself to do and I really wish I'd started with that instead. You would have loved it as well. There were tons of countries and stuff to do at every area. It's like travelling the globe in only a day - plenty of travel justification in that! Put that on your list too xD
