Still, felt pretty cool. But back to the beginning of my day.
So I started at the Museum of Women in the Arts, which was very cool and fascinating. The building was so fancy! I felt like Anastasia in that scene where she goes back to the Catherine Palace and starts singing. So I played that soundtrack on my iPod. Then there was this very cool floor dedicated to women in music who altered history or forwarded the empowered women movement. There was stuff from Diana Ross and the Supremes, Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Dolly Parton Billie Holliday (WHO IS ACTUALLY A GIRL? DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING. Although now I understand the joke from Clueless) and etc but I took less notice of the ones I didn't recognise. But it was the next room that I really enjoyed since it had stuff from concerts or memorable outfits worn by Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa (like her first piano! A replica of her meat dress, one of her sparkly costumes) Britney [from the good years], Xtina, Queen Latifa, Madonna, Liz Phair <- that one got me so excited!, and etc. So awesome.
After that, I went looking for Ford Theatre but got lost due to construction on 10th getting me off track, so I was like 'eh, I'm hungry. Let's call it a day and go home.' So I went back to the hostel, had lunch, looked at the time thinking it nearly 4 or 5.... And it was almost 2pm. What??? So I headed out again, found Ford Theatre and bought a ticket for tomorrow morning. Then decided that because I was near the White House, I should finally get around to seeing that. Decided to forgo looking at my map, which was a good idea because I figured the street numbers counted down to the WH since it's the capital of the capital. HA! NO.
Walked all the way down to 1st st, the whole time thinking to myself how unimpressive and kind of ugly the WH looked in person. Get there, think, 'hey, isn't there supposed to be a fountain?', consult my map and realise I'm 15 blocks away because I walked in the wrong direction. HOORAY. Walk all the way to 15th st and think 'hmmm, still doesn't look that grand. But maybe this is the back'. HA! NO. That is the Treasurey Building. Keep walking and tada! Finally!

Such a beautiful building the White House and only you can get lost from the easily located building in Washington.
ReplyDeleteYou do make me laugh about the music. No squeals for the mumma over Joni Mitchell (Love Actually) and Dolly Parton. Did you take pics here?
ARG SHE'S THAT SINGER? NOOO I DO NOT LIKE HER MUSIC!
ReplyDeletePics weren't allowed :( I had my phone out for the notes/iPod, and the security guard followed me around the whole floor thinking I wouldn't notice. But I did.
You are correct in your statement that only I can get lost looking for the White House in Washington. Too correct.
Hey FBI Agent - they probally mistook you for Miss Congeniality - Bend & Snap!
ReplyDeleteI hope you mixed up Miss Congeniality's S.I.N.G with Legally Blonde's Bend and Snap on purpose... Otherwise we gonna have to force you to watch all our chick flicks until you can get them straight!
DeleteLOL dad see what happens when you didn't watch Miss Congeniality with us on weekend before the child left.
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't have recognised it without the sci fi movies either >.<
ReplyDeleteBut SO MUCH WALKING UG
Hahaha, 'that random building.'
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I watch enough tv to recognize the White House for sure, tbh. Good thing I read Emerica blogs and expand my cultural knowledge! \O/
Also, LOL, the guy who thought FBI agents would go around wearing a tshirt that says FBI on it.
